Frequently asked questions

Which languages can I convert?

Input supports Korean, English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish, with sound spellings in 12 languages or scripts. Select Spanish explicitly when automatic detection is uncertain.

Does it translate meanings or find songs?

ParrotSing writes approximate sounds in familiar letters. It does not provide meaning translation, audio playback, lyrics search or streaming. Bring your own text.

Are my lyrics sent to a server?

Text, titles, pronunciation conversion and your library stay on your device. Sharing and PDF export happen only when you choose them.

Can I move saved songs to another device?

Export a backup from My songs and import it on the other device. Libraries do not automatically follow changes of device, browser or website address.

Do stories and PDFs contain the whole song?

They continue through all original and sound-spelling lines, splitting long text across images or PDF pages. Choose Save as PDF in your browser print dialog.

How to use

Input languages and output languages

Select Español as the input language for Spanish text. Words containing ñ are also detected inside mixed text. English lyric contractions and selected connected-speech patterns use approximate cues; the singer’s phrasing and emphasis may differ.

ParrotSing detects Korean, English, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and text mixing these languages. Choose sound spelling for Korean, English, Japanese, Simplified or Traditional Chinese, Indonesian, Thai, Vietnamese, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Filipino, or Hindi. An output option does not mean that ParrotSing can recognize input in that language.

Sound cues use Korean pronunciation rules and existing language data. This is not meaning translation, song search, or audio playback. Sounds missing from the selected language are approximated, so the spelling may differ from actual speech. Each conversion accepts up to 5,000 characters and 300 lines.

Give it a title and save to My songs

After converting, enter a title and save. Your original text, sound spelling, and language settings stay in My songs in this browser. Open, rename, or delete them without an account. Text is not saved automatically before you press Save.

Saved songs belong to this device, browser, and site address. Private browsing, clearing site data, or changing devices can leave you without your library. Download a JSON backup and import it on another device to move your songs; there is no server sync. Save up to 200 songs within the 10 MB limit. Backup files can be up to 10 MB.

Invite a friend to sing a line

Story cards include the complete original lyrics, sound spellings, and Chinese pinyin. Blank rows are omitted and longer songs continue on more images. Each image has the musical parrot logo and page number. Copy full song is a separate action that copies the displayed text and link.

The share menu receives only story images and the website URL. Lyrics, sound spellings, and titles are not sent as separate text. If image sharing is unsupported, use PDF / Print. The URL opens a fresh conversion page without original text or a title, so it does not restore the song. Apps may handle images and links differently.

Language data loads when needed

Conversion and card creation run on your device. Data for English, Japanese, or Mandarin input, and Traditional Chinese conversion data, may be downloaded from this site when first needed. Check your results and load the data you need before relying on it later.

PDF pronunciation notes

After converting, choose PDF / Print to open an A4 practice sheet in a new window. Edit its title, check the original, sound spelling and Chinese pinyin, then print. Choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print dialog.

The preview uses the current conversion or a reopened saved song. Long text continues onto more pages, and printing is enabled after local fonts and styles load. A saved PDF is separate from your browser library. If the window is blocked, allow pop-ups for this site and try again. Blank and whitespace-only rows are omitted from printing; word spaces and pinyin are preserved.
